Privacy Policy

Effective July 29, 2026

The Dawnly app is built to work without collecting your data. This policy explains exactly what happens on your device, what (little) leaves it, and what this website measures.

What we collect in the app

Nothing. The Dawnly app has no user accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no servers of its own. We do not collect, store, receive, or sell any personal information from the app.

This website

This website is separate from the app, and it does measure visits. We use the Meta pixel and Meta's Conversions API to see how many people land here, how far they read, and how many tap through to Google Play, so we know whether our advertising is worth running.

For that we send Meta your IP address, your browser's user agent, the page address you were on, the country your IP resolves to, and Meta's own _fbp and _fbc cookies (which identify the browser and the ad you clicked, if any). We also store a random identifier in your browser to recognise return visits; it is not linked to your name, email, or anything you do in the app. We never send your affirmation, your alarms, or any app data, because the website has no access to them.

To opt out, use your browser's tracking protection or an ad blocker, or adjust your Meta ad settings at facebook.com/adpreferences. Blocking it does not affect the app.

Your affirmation and alarms

Your affirmation, alarm settings, and streak are stored locally on your device. If you have Android Backup enabled, Android may include this data in your device backup to your own Google account. That backup belongs to you and is not accessible to us.

Your voice

To dismiss an alarm by speaking, Dawnly uses your device's built-in speech recognition service (provided by Android). Dawnly itself never records, stores, or transmits your voice. Audio is processed by the speech service and immediately discarded; only the resulting text is compared, on your device, against the affirmation you wrote. Depending on your device and settings, Android's speech service may process audio on-device or via the device manufacturer's speech servers; this is governed by your device's own settings and Google's privacy policy.

Microphone permission

The microphone is used only while the alarm screen is open and actively listening, never in the background. You can deny the permission entirely and dismiss alarms by typing instead.

Wording updates

When the app starts, it may download a small text file from our website to refresh in-app wording (for example, suggested affirmations). This request sends no personal data and nothing about you. Like any web request, the server briefly sees your IP address in standard access logs.

Payments

Subscriptions are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. Google's handling of your payment information is described in Google's privacy policy. Your subscription status is checked directly with Google Play from your device.

Children

Dawnly is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
